Sunflake Socks
These socks are knitted in the round from the cuff down. I decided to put my kids’ favorite emoji into a traditional Norwegian snowflake pattern. The socks do look attractive from the front and back. I selected a square (Dutch) heel, a narrow foot, and a wedge shaped toe, but you can, of course, alter the shaping as you see fit.
Size: Woman’s M (8-8.5US). Adjusting gauge will yield smaller or larger socks.
Gauge: 24st and 28 rows = 4” or 10 cm in stockinette stitch using US size 4 (3.5mm) needles.
Yarn: Sport weight. I recommend having at least 100g of the main color and 50g of the contrasting color.
Needles: US size 4 or size needed to obtain gauge. You may use Dpns, or one or two circular needles. I’m a tight knitter so you may need to use a smaller needle to obtain gauge.
