This little chalk bucket is made with a 5 inch by 5 inch square base. It’s
sturdiness comes from crocheting over paracord around the base, a super simple technique that I outline below. Most of the sunflower is crocheted with the single crochet stitch, and I include a video for the petals, which are a little more tricky. Individual leaves are crocheted and then sewn around the base to give it more texture and pizzazz, and before you know it you’ll have a finished sunflower-shaped chalk bucket for getting out and climbing!
MATERIALS
● Worsted weight acrylic yarn, about 100 g of total yarn needed: I used
Lion Brand’s Vanna’s Choice Yarn. The green base uses ~50 g of
yarn, and less than 30 g of yarn are needed in brown and yellow.
● 5 mm Paracord - if you are going to use paracord to stiffen the base of
you chalk bucket, you will only need ~5 yards of it. I used a 4 mm
thick cord.
● Size H (5 mm) crochet hook
● Finishing needle
● 14 inches of paracord
● Toggle stopper
● Lightweight fabric liner (<1 square yard)
