Sunflower Lovers Cross Body Bag
Simple and striking, this cross body bag combines two beautiful Sunflower Lovers granny squares and adds a sturdy non-stretch thermal stitch strap, to create a perfect casual bag for the summer.
You will need to be familiar with single and double crochet stitches, and working into the front post. Written in English using US terminology, the pattern features comprehensive photo tutorials for the other stitches used which may be less familiar. Never tried the thermal stitch before? No need to worry - this pattern has been tested by crocheters with no prior experience of this stitch, all of whom enjoyed using the included photo tutorial to learn the stitch (a surprisingly simple variation of single crochet). This pattern is suitable for all experience levels from confident beginners upwards.
You will need:
-approximately 210m/230yds of aran weight yarn. I used a total of 140g Yarn & Colors Epic (100 % cotton, 75m/82yds per 50g) in four colours: approx 6g of each of the browns, 12g of yellow, and 116g of the cream.
-a 5mm hook
-a button (optional – I used 1 x 20mm button)
This pattern would also work well if you prefer to use DK yarn, with a 4mm hook. This will result in a smaller bag, and you may want to add extra strap rows to reach your desired length.
When made using aran yarn, the completed bag measures approximately 20cm x 20cm (8” x 8”) with the strap measuring approximately 105cm (41 ½“) end to end.
