Sunflower Lovers Granny Square Pouch
Featuring an eye-catching sunflower motif, this pattern first illustrates how to create the Sunflower Lovers Granny Square, then how to transform it into a useful little pouch, including ideas of ways to customise your pouch to suit the use you have in mind for it. Perhaps you will line your project to use as a coin purse or gift bag for jewellery, or make a larger version to use as a tablet, kindle or book cover.. The possibilities are endless! A satisfyingly quick project that works up fast, this pattern is suitable for experience levels from confident beginners upwards.
You will need to be familiar with single, double and treble crochet stitches, and working into the front post. Written in English using US terminology, the pattern features comprehensive photo tutorials for the other stitches used which may be less familiar.
note: the Sunflower Lovers Granny Square pattern is included, no need to download separately.
You will need:
-approximately 56m/61 yds of DK weight yarn. I used a total of 19g Stylecraft Special DK (100 % acrylic, 295m/323yds per 100g) in four colours: approx 2g of each of the browns, 3g of yellow and 12g of blue.
-a 4mm hook
This pattern would also work well if you prefer to use a different yarn weight (such as aran/worsted yarn) or fibre. This will alter your square’s finished size. When made using DK yarn, the finished purse will measure approximately 12.5cm x 11cm (5 x 4 ½“), although instructions for customising to make a larger purse are included.
