My Sunflower Pet Bed crochet pattern was inspired by my cat’s love of nestling down in the flower beds during summer, and I wanted to bring an element of summer and sunshine indoors for a burst of color that can be enjoyed all year round.

The pet bed is made of two separate pieces - a basket base, and a removable inner cushion. You could choose to make just the cushion for your pet bed, but having the basket around the outside gives support to the petals and an added dimension.

The finished pet bed measures approximately 18” (46 cm) in diameter, so will suit most small to medium sized pets.

The basket section is crocheted using four strands of light worsted (double knitting/8ply yarn) held together, forming a good firm fabric that helps the sides stand up unsupported. The inner cushion is made with 2 strands of light worsted (double knitting/8ply) yarn held together and is worked in one continuous piece. Fiberfill or a cushion insert will be needed for stuffing the cushion.

My patterns are written in plain English which makes them easy to follow whether you are a newbie crocheter or you have many years of experience. This pattern could be challenging for a complete beginner, but if you are determined I know you can do it. You can always message me if you have any queries about my patterns.
