This design is inspired by one of my grandma’s favourite gardens to visit in British Columbia and was thus named after one of them, Sunken Garden. For my colour choices, I wanted to capture the vibrancy of the flowers and the subtle beauty of the quarry that surrounds the garden.

This shawl is knit from right to left in 9 sections and finished with an applied, ribbed, sweater-like border. A unique part about this shawl is that your stitch count will always remain the same which makes it easy to modify and switch out different sections as you please. This also helps if you are trying to manage your yardage.

Shape:
A rectangular wrap/shawl worked from right to left and an applied ribbed border

Yardage:
You will need approximately 1200 yards of fingering weight yarn for this pattern in three colours. I used 710 yards of Colour A (Faded Denim), 374 yards of Colour B (Succulent Garden), and 101 yards of Colour C (Coral). All yarn used for this pattern was from Allison Barnes Yarn.

Size:
One Size - measuring approximately 60 inches across and 23 inches deep after blocking

Gauge:
24 sts by 40 rows in 4 inches, after blocking

Knitting Needle:
A US 4 (3.5mm) knitting needle is the needle that was used to obtain gauge for this pattern.

I recommend using a 60cm cable so your stitches are not squished.
