This is best suited to being worked in one colour, although more than one colour may be used. The sunflower in the centre of the block can be used on its own as an applique if desired.
If using DK yarn, use a 4.5mm hook or size needed for given tension. A 4mm hook should be used with worsted weight yarn. I am quite a loose crocheter, so make a tension swatch before you start working on the block if it is intended for use with other 12-inch blocks. I used one ball of Scheepjes Colour Crafter DK to make two twelve-inch squares.
