This jumper was dreamed up as a way to enjoy a concertina fold stitch I tried out and fell in love with. I wanted to create a free flowing jumper with a silhouette resembling a poncho. The multiple stripes allow you to dive into your stash and use up lots of odds and ends.
The jumper is knitted flat from the bottom up in pieces. The sleeve pieces are then seamed and joined to the body piece to form the yoke, opening at the centre back. The yoke is then worked flat through the neck to the end of the neck rib. Finally, the centre back is seamed, the neck rib is folded in and is secured with a 3-needle bind-off. The concertina pleat consists of garter stitch “pleated” by columns of twisted stitches.
The length is adjustable and there are instructions included to explain how this is done.
This pattern also comes with a paper doll you can use to plan your project or entertain any bystanders while you make your pleated magic. You will receive both a full colour and black and white version for printing convenience.
