Sunrise Mug Hug
I couldn’t find a pretty mug hug where the button tab looks like an elegant part of the design (rather than a hasty afterthought) so I designed my own version. I like neat details so the tab grows smoothly out of the central cable. The texture forms natural buttonholes so you can adjust it to fit neatly without extra holes looking messy.
This a great pattern for a novice to learn to knit cables. There is only one “proper” cable with the rest being eyelet-rib mock cables and therefore much easier than it looks. A good intermediate knitter could make this quick gift in an evening.
Easy-to-follow instructions are given so that you can make the cozy to fit the mug of your choice, or you can make the average size specified in the pattern.
Any 4ply yarn with good stitch definition will work. A solid or semi-solid shade will show your beautifully created textures off best. It will typically take around half a ball (check yardage) so this is a great stash-buster.
Make this to give you or a friend some morning cheer.
Note: an English yrn (in the pattern) is the same as an American purl-side yo.
