In June 2017, Indie Untangled kicked off a “Knitting Our National Parks” project whereby independent dyers create yarn colors based on a photo from the U.S. Department of the Interior’s Instagram feed. Ten percent of the proceeds from the sale of these yarns are donated to the National Park Foundation. Into the Whirled created a gorgeous colorway called “Hoodoos” based on a photo of the sun rising over Thor’s Hammer in Bryce Canyon National Park. I went with a minimal shawl design of all-over texture coupled with simple lace to show off the fabulous color and character of the yarn.
This shawl is an asymmetric triangle consisting of a garter rib pattern mingled with simple lace and finished with a picot bind off. These simplistic stitches also make the shawl reversible.
