What to do with your favorite self striping sock yarn that you want to show off?

A fitted peplum tank top knit using self striping sock yarn to create a vertically striped peplum skirt.

This pattern is for kids sizes only - for adult sizes, see the Sunset Boulevard Top. For kids/teens size 12 or 14 please refer to the adult size 1 and 2.

Sizes: 2 (4, 6, 8, 10)

Finished Chest Measurements: 21 (23, 25, 26, 28) inches

Notes on sizing:
Top is meant to be worn with 0-2” of positive ease. For a looser fit, I recommend sizing up, but keeping the approximate length of the intended size.

Needles: US 5 (3.75mm) 16” or 24” circular needle and US 3 (3.25) 12” or 16” circular needle and/or double points or size needed to obtain gauge. US size 1 (2.25mm) circular needles – length not important – to use for picking up stitches. . I used these at the waist only, but you may opt to use them on the sleeves and neck too, or not at all.

Yarn: Woolens and Nosh Tarhee Fingering 90% SW Targhee 10% Nylon 411yds/100g
Self-striping - Pretty Felt Garland – 30 (35, 40, 45, 50) g
Solid color – 35 (45, 55, 65, 75) g

Gauge: 5 sts and 8 rows =1” on larger needles – please note, if you’re using different yarns for the body and peplum, I highly recommend swatching with both. You may find that you want to use a different size needle for each part.
