Sunset Tides
The “Sunset Tides” crochet shawl is a collaboration between designer Donna Peters and dyer Andrea Riddle of Sheep Graffiti Yarns. Drawing inspiration from the Pantone Color of the Year and the breathtaking beauty of ocean sunsets, this shawl is a testament to their combined creativity and expertise.
Infused with the warm, inviting tones of a coastal sunset, the color palette of the Sunset Tides shawl features a captivating three-color gradient in peach tones. Andrea Riddle’s artistry in dyeing yarns brings these hues to life, seamlessly transitioning from soft pastels to deeper, more vibrant shades, mirroring the ever-changing colors of the evening sky as the sun dips below the horizon.
Donna Peters’ design sensibility shines through in the intricate texture of the shawl. While rooted in fundamental crochet stitches, the design also incorporates next-level techniques that elevate the piece to a new level of artistry. Lacework and alternating depths of textured stitches mimic the patterns found in nature, evoking the gentle rhythm of ocean waves and the play of light on water.
From the intricate stitch patterns to the carefully curated color palette, every aspect of the Sunset Tides shawl reflects the passion and creativity of its creators. Whether worn as a statement piece or draped over the shoulders on a cool evening, this shawl is sure to turn heads and spark admiration wherever it goes.
Sunset Tides is an intermediate level crochet pattern that uses basic stitches and a few next-level techniques to create a crescent-shaped shawl.
