Sunshine after the rain
The shawl was written during the lockdown period in the UK (which started on 23 March 2020). The lockdown was to help to halt the spread of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) in the UK and to help save lives and reduce the burden on the NHS. A number of feelings were felt during the lockdown including disbelief, despair, greed, loneliness, isolation, sacrifice, helplessness, longing, grief and anger (represented by the grey yarn). These were intermingled with signs of hope, selflessness, co-operation, community, nature, altruism, recovery, simple pleasures and kindness (represented by the golden yellow).
