Learn how to crochet the interlocking block stitch, also known as the plaid stitch! Using super bulky yarn, this baby blanket pattern works up super quickly!
I just love the color changes with this stitch! Choose three contrasting colors and carry the yarn up the sides for easy colorwork and very few ends to weave in.
I thought a single crochet spike stitch border would pair nicely with the tall double crochets formed by this stitch. I love the effect!
I hope you enjoy this cozy quick pattern!

If you’d like a more detailed step-by-step photo tutorial demonstrating this stitch, I recommend the interlocking block stitch tutorial over at Nordic Hook.
Pattern is worked carrying the colors up the sides.
If you don’t own a size M/13 9mm crochet hook, size N/15 10mm works nicely too and shouldn’t affect gauge too dramatically.
