There are so many beautiful patterns for hats and caps out there already, but I am putting this pattern in just for beginners who want to tackle a few basic knitting skills (knitting in the round, K2tog) and finish a useful project for that special newborn. Of course, there might be a pattern exactly like this one out there already. It is after all, meant to be very straightforward.

The cap uses a K3P1 rib, which gives the cap a solid overall shape but still allows stretch because of the ribs.

I also find this cap has a fairly flat crown rather than a pointy top.
