It is not necessary to check the gauge. However, you may check what the suggested hook size is for the specific cotton yarn you are using.
The finished soap cozy is 9 cm / 3.5 inches wide and 12 cm / 4.7 inches long, which fits most soap bars. Its texture is perfect for gentle massage, while the cotton yarn is machine washable and will not change its appearance after washing.
