Super Fine Reversible Beanie
The Super Fine Reversible Beanie is knit in-the-round using 1x1 rib and stockinette stitch patterns and super fine e.g, fingering/sock weight yarn (75% wool, 25% nylon). The beanie can be worn alone or under a hat or hood.
The beanie shown in the photos is the large size. The top 2 photos are the stockinette (knit) side and the bottom 2 photos are the reverse stockinette (purl) side. Either side can be worn as the public-side -- knitter’s choice.
I used a US 2.5 (3mm) needle which may vary with each knitter to obtain gauge. The pattern provides instructions for making a gauge swatch that is worked flat but mimics your gauge as if the swatch was knit in-the-round.
While the pattern suggests casting on using the German Twisted Cast-On method, any stretchy cast-on method can be used.
The Super Fine Reversible Beanie is a perfect project for using up a stash of sock weight yarns. Pick an interesting variegated yarn and let the yarn “design” the beanie for you.
For the more adventurous knitter, pick a stitch pattern with a repeat multiple that divides evenly into the number of cast-on stitches for your beanie and work it instead of stockinette stitch; remember to prepare your gauge swatch in your chosen stitch pattern too.
