Ktbl = Knit through back loop. This causes the knit stitch to twist (otherwise just do a normal K for basic ribbing)

Instructions:
Hat is knit in the round from bottom to crown, casting off at the crown to leave an opening for the ponytail.

CO 40 stitches and join in the round being careful not to twist. Place marker.

NOTE: if 40 stitches is too small or big, increase or decrease by sets of 4 stitches.

Ribbing: K1tbl, p1, repeat to end.
Continue ribbing in the round until piece measures 8 cm.

Main cap (exaggerated moss stitch):
Row 1 and 2: K2, P2, repeat to end.
Row 3 and 4: P2, K2, repeat to end.
Repeat these 4 rows until piece measures 18cm. End after you’ve completed row 4. Try on the hat to see if the piece covers ears sufficiently with still another 2” to go before you end the piece.

Decrease rounds:
Row 1: K2, P2tog, repeat to end (30 sts)
Row 2: K2, P1, repeat to end
Row 3: K2tog, P1, repeat to end (20 sts)
Row 4: K1, P1, repeat to end
Row 5: K2tog, K1, repeat to end (13 sts)
Cast off all stitches.

Adjust decrease stitches as needed to ensure the piece fits appropriately.
