A scaled down version of the classic Doctor Who scarf’s original pattern (Seasons 12 - 14). It runs less than half the width and approximately half the length of the original, uses a quarter of the yarn, and knits even faster than that. If you’re making it for a child, want to test out new color choices without the time commitment of the full scarf, or simply want a normal-sized version of the infamously enormous, iconic scarf worn by Tom Baker in the 70’s, this pattern is for you.

There’s an approximate length measurement for each incarnation of the scarf presented in this pattern to help you better decide which season you want to knit up. This pattern was created with worsted/light worsted yarn in mind, so keep in mind that lighter yarn or smaller needles will scale down the final size even more. However, it shouldn’t take much more than a week to knit up, even for new knitters, so if you’re initially unhappy with the length, it won’t be overwhelming to simply start over again with heavier yarn or bigger needles.

You won’t need more than one skein of each:

red
green
gold
tan
brown
purple
grey

This pattern was created with the idea that users will have already had experience with the finer details of knitting a Tom Baker scarf. If this is your first time knitting a Doctor Who scarf, I HIGHLY recommend visiting DoctorWhoScarf.com for background information and yarn recommendations.

Happy knitting!
