SUPER-SIZE TOTE
This extra large felted bag carries a lot. The sample was  knit in Lopi. This makes a  thicker, stronger tote than  worsted weight yarn which is  helpful given the large size of  the bag. Lopi can only be used on  bulkies. Others still use sport  or worsted weight yarn.

REQUIREMENTS FOR THE FELTED BAGS IN THIS BOOK
1)About 8 oz. worsted weight wool or Lopi yarn per bulky bag (varies with style).  Standard, Passap & mid-gauge knitters use similar amounts of sport weight
2) Any gauge and brand of knitting machine.
3)SWATCHING: A purse need not fit anybody so it is not necessary to match gauge  perfectly. However, it is important to learn that the selected yarn felts well and get a  fairly predictable product. Swatches can later be used to make pockets and appliqués so  they will not be wasted. Knit a in a large stitch size, probably the largest. Bond knitters  use largest key plate. All knitters use every needle except Passap and standard gauge knitters who will use every other needle. Knitted in this way, Passap & standard knitters  will get the same gauge that mid-gauge knitters do. It allows them to use a heavy enough  yarn to achieve a good purse-weight fabric.

Precise gauge will vary with yarn choice and degree of felting.
