Super Skittles Shawl
100% of the sales of this shawl will be donated to the LGBTQ Freedom Fund, which helps to post bail for LGBTQ people held in jail or immigrant detention centers.
The Super Skittles Shawl is a large triangular shawl that gets its name from the bright colors in the sample. This pattern uses stripes made with miniskeins that blend together with the help of a simple slipped stitch pattern repeat, and ends with an optional soft tassel fringe.
The sample is knit up using fingering weight yarn in 8 different colors using 16 total miniskeins (two for each color). However, this pattern could easily be changed to incorporate more colors for a larger rainbow or an ombre effect, or fewer colors down to two alternating full skeins.(Shown in photos with the brown and orange shawl)
The pattern is written to be quite large with a final wingspan of 84” (213cm) and a depth of 38” (96cm). This size allows for the shawl to be folded in half and still able to be worn wrapped around the neck and shoulders of the wearer. However, as this is a triangular shawl, knitters can bind off and add optional fringe whenever the item reaches the size that they are most comfortable wearing.
