Super SWIRL Shawl
Super SWIRL Shawl is knit from the top down starting with just a few stitches and then increases along the edges and towards the center to produce a crescent shape. A combination of texture, five colors and optional surface running stitch embroidery make this a special knit and one that is unique to you. One hand-dyed Super SWIRL is all that is needed to complete this project.
Size:
15inches/38cm at the deepest point and 66inches/168cm along the top edge.
Embellishment is added at the end to make this shawl truly your own.
Feel free to use any type of embellishment you want. I chose to use a running stitch embroidery technique for my sample. I included 2 triangle templates at the end of the pattern for reference. But use duplicate stitch, free hand embroidery, or running stitch (like I used) for your unique shawl. I also added a single crochet border in CC5 at the top of the shawl and then poms on the ends.
All of the embellishments are optional. The shawl looks amazing on its own with a combination of textured stitches and five vibrant colors!!
Yarn:
Ewe2Yarn Super SWIRL 5 color set. 580yds/250g/DK.
Or any DK weight yarn in the following amounts:
C1-5, 110 yards for each color.
Needles and Notions
US size 6 (4mm) circular needle with a cord long enough to accommodate a large number of stitches
Two stitch markers and darning needle
Gauge
17 sts and 29 rounds = 4”/10 cm in stockinette stitch blocked.
The gauge is not super important for this project. The goal is for the fabric to be loose and drapey. If your fabric is looking a little tight, make sure you go up a needle size or two.
Go nuts and happy knitting!!
