When I admired my
friend Shirley’s sweater,
she admitted that she
had bought it but would
like to knit similar one
and wondered if I could
design a pattern do to so. I said “Surely, Shirley” and this is the pattern we came up with. Shirley’s original is a wonderful soft yarn with a multicolor tweed effect. To approximate the look and feel, Microtamm yarn with variegated serger thread used as run-along is recommended for the pattern. Full length sleeves are written into the pattern but instructions for altering length are easy and also included. This sweater looks nice on all figures and may be worn loosely fitted without looking oversized because of its soft drape. Larger than usual
sizes are possible in this design because it is knitted at the top of the standard gauge range. Because so many sizes are possible for this sweater, the pattern is written with blanks to be filled in from a chart.
