Crochet pattern for adorable sushi amigurumi. Approximately life-sized--shown on a sushi boat to give an idea of the size of the finished product. (Though there is some variation here! Some sushi houses make much bigger or smaller nigiri! And some people make bigger or smaller stitches than I do!)
This pattern contains 5 pages of instructions with full-color pictures for making tamago (egg), sake (salmon), maguro (tuna), and ebi (shrimp) nigiri. There are also patterns for making wasabi and ginger. Pattern is 554kb in PDF format.
(Pictures in listing show the finished product. This is a pattern only. You have to supply your own materials and make it yourself.)
Note
Each individual piece (rice ball and topping) uses very little yarn—this is a perfect project to use up some scraps of yarn you have lying around!
I tried to stick with one brand for everything where I could because changing yarn brands means pieces won’t all match in size exactly. Even ‘standardized’ yarn weights vary a bit from brand to brand.
That said, I couldn’t find a Super Saver yarn in a color I liked for the tuna or the shrimp colors. But if you’re okay with your tuna a bit brighter, and the shrimp a bit pinker, you can go with the Super Saver colors “Cherry Red” and “Rosy” and save a few dollars over my suggestions. Or, since you don’t have to take photos for a pattern like I do, you could just use leftover stash yarn in the closest colors you have for everything.
