If you’ve found a reason to knit Susie’s Reading Mitts here, then you probably have a reason to knit this cowl.

After making the mitts as a gift (I almost couldn’t give away) I decided she needed a cowl too. I set out to use the same garter and eyelet details with the picot edge. Then I checked with “Susie” and she blessed the idea. So to honor her free pattern, this is free to anybody who has made Susie’s Reading Mitts, just pm Kelee with your project!

A quick cowl for a chilly day, knit in a dk weight it can be finished in a weekend. One size will fit most. Short rows are worked in the middle to give more to the front and keep the part under your hair less bulky. The option to knit without short rows is noted in the pattern but you won’t get the narrow section at the back.
