The Sussex Slipper Socks pattern is designed for using up and recycling leftover yarn scraps or combining stashed yarns into colour combinations.

The slipper socks have a chunky mock cable design which is gender neutral, stretchy to fit most feet and can be adapted to the desired foot length.

The slipper sock is knitted top-down with double pointed needles (DPNs) and is easily adapted to the magic loop method or using short circular needles.

Get creative with your yarn stash and left-overs with this pattern, combining 120g to make up a chunky yarn as follows:

  • 6 x 4ply
  • 2x 4ply + 2 x DK (or 2 x 4ply + 2 x aran/worsted).
  • 3 x DK (+ 1 x lace weight if desired).
  • 2 x Aran/worsted
  • 1 x Chunky (In the US, ‘fingering weight’ is equivalent to 4ply).

The pattern includes some suggestions about how you might combine your yarns. You can change some or all of the strands as you knit to create subtle stripes or gradients, which will allow for shorter scraps to be incorporated.

You’ll need a set of 5.5mm double pointed needles (or equivalent circular needles if you prefer magic loop method). No cable needle needed.
