The Sutton Hoodie, very useful today in cold temps. Great when your winter coat has no hood. Effortless too, since it doesn’t need to be carried around just lower it and wear it as a cowl. When you are indoors or in a warm place, just slip it off your head--no searching for places to put your hat or possibly lose it. It remains perfectly in position because of the attractive cowl that holds it in place. Then place it on your head when you go outside again. It won’t mess up your hair as much as a hat does, because after all it is a hood. Uses Merino Cloud, 2 skeins, which is so soft that you’ll love wearing it against the skin and forget you have it on.

Starting with just 6 sts at the very top of the hood, you will knit this top down, using mock cables--much easier than cabling with a cable needle. The entire hat portion is worked in the round, and then a provisional cast on is used to attach the 2 sides of the cowl seamlessly, while the stitches for the hood opening are placed on waste yarn and held back. The cowl is worked back and forth in rows, continuing the same pattern, and then bound off. The entire brim is worked back and forth to complete the piece.
