Suzon was my Grandmother’s nickname. I first knitted this shawl for her, as she was always cold, but unfortunately she passed away before I had a chance to give it to her.

I wanted a warm shawl, fast and easy to knit, so I picked worsted yarns and large needles. To avoid bulkiness due to the thick yarn, I included an easy lace pattern; I like that the lace pattern is not identical on both side of the shawl, it gives an illusion of movement. The stripes are for the fun and nice touch of color.

This shawl is basically composed of multiples repeats of 2 sections (Stripe and Eyelet Lace sections). It is easily customizable, as you can knit as many repeats or make each repeat as wide or narrow as you want. There are 2 finishing options for this shawl: a simple knitted Garter stitch band for the brown shawl, while the white shawl has a more elaborated scallop border, done using a crochet hook.

03/12/13: Pattern update
If you downloaded this pattern before 03/12/13 (original file: Suzon_Shawl.pdf), there were 2 errors:

• Eyelet lace section I, Lace row 3: the correct stitch count is 59 (instead of 57)
• Eyelet lace section II, Lace row 1: after cs, it should be “sm, YO, K1, * YO, K2tog ,…“ (instead of “sm, K1, YO, YO, K2tog ,…“).

Those errors have been corrected in the version Suzon_Shawl_2.pdf, as of 03/12/13.
