Gauge: 16-19 sts in 4 inches (10 cm) in stockinette stitch (row gauge is not important for this pattern)

Your gauge will determine how wide your hat’s headband part is going to be. The pictured sample is made in yarn with 16 sts gauge.
For 16 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 24 cm / 9 ½ in
For 17 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 23 cm / 9 in
For 18 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 21 cm / 8 ¼ in
For 19 sts gauge the headband’s width is: 20.5 cm / 8 in

You will need: yarn (up to 220 grams for thicker yarn, up to 110 grams for the finer yarn), knitting needles to obtain the gauge (for knitting flat), a darning needle, and three stitch holders.
