The Swash Mitts in the photos were knit using the Fundy, New Brunswick colourway of Fleece Artist’s National Parks Collection.
The Bay of Fundy is renowned for it’s impressive tidal forces. These fingerless mittens have rippling and swirling textures – the swash of waves on the shore at Fundy National Park.
This pattern uses Danish Sailor’s Bobble (D4K1) technique, and unique ribs to create a rippling surface. The created fabric is stretchy and warm. I recommend not blocking the mitts, as the texture stays rich when it’s not flattened out.
For a Sailor Bobble (D4K1) tutorial the Garn Studio is very helpful.
