Sweater, Hat & Socks for 18" Doll
My twin granddaughters, Finley and Fiona, are now 8 years old and in love with their 18” dolls. Since they tell me their dolls are very fashion conscious, Dutiful Grandma Me likes to come up with quick and easy designs for the dolls.
As I publish this in early February, I’ve just happily completed Valentine’s Day and Easter outfits for the dolls and I hope you will enjoy working on my designs too.
The sweaters are knit flat in one piece and the only seaming is along each sleeve and side.
You can choose between a long sleeve or short sleeve sweater! I’ve included instructions for both.
The hat is knit in the round, but I always tell my students that if they prefer to knit the hat flat, then sew a back seam, why not? Go for it!
I provide patterns for both stockinette stitch and ribbed socks. The socks are also knit in the round, but again, feel free to knit them flat and sew a back seam.
The pattern is for plain stockinette stitch sweaters, but I include suggestions on how to personalize your embellishments.
Although I don’t include a sewing pattern for the skirt (there are so many fabulous patterns available online and in books), I’ve added a note telling you how I make the simple skirts with elastic waistbands.
As with all my designs, I’m always available to help you have fun and end up with a terrific result. Just E-mail me at the address provided on the pattern.
My model doll Susie says Hi! to all the other beautiful dolls out there!
