Nordic style baby sweater with pewter clasps at the split at the front.

It is suggested you knit this sweater in hand dyed yarn for an extra beatiful color variegation giving a very interesting depth to the colorwork.

This pattern is inspired by a Swedish cake called Princess Cake (Prinsesstårta) and the motif is a traditional rose pattern from the island Gotland which is renowned for all the pretty roses in the town Visby. The cake origins from a cookbook published in the late 1920’s called “Prinsessornas Kokbok” and the name of the cake was initially just ”Green cake” because the cake is covered in green marzipan, decorated with a pink marzipan rose. The cake was invented by, or at least the author was inspired by, the Swedish princess sisters (Margareta, Märta & Astrid) that were the author’s pupils by the time when the recipe was first published and therefore the name later changed into Prinsesstårta.
