Sweep/Sculling Pogies
Discontinued.
This digital pattern is no longer available online.
Pogies are special mitts used by rowers in cold weather. (Only rowers will be interested in them.) They are shorter than mittens because the rower’s fingers are curled around the oar handle and are open on one or both sides to allow the oar handle to be enclosed by the mitt. You can buy them from specialty rowing outfitters, but they’re really easy to make. I wrote up a pattern which I run on our regional rowing website each winter.
