The honey-combed smocking detail on this little knit hat pattern looks difficult to knit, but it’s got a sweet little secret: It’s not! If you can knit and purl, you can knit this hat!

This classically-inspired hat pattern is designed to fit a 6-12 month old baby, but could easily be adapted for other sizes; just be sure to cast on in a multiple of 6 plus 2.

Knit in the round.

Stitches used:
k knit
p purl
k2tog knit two together
p2tog purl two together

Gauge: 16 sts and 26 rows in a 4x4 inch square, using size 4 needles. Save time & check your gauge. 

Materials:
Sizes 4 and 8, 16 inch circular needles
Size 8 double pointed needles for decreasing
Stitch marker
Darning needle for weaving in ends
