Sweet Cecily was designed to showcase this beautiful, hand dyed, lustrous yarn. The centre is plain garter stitch knitted diagonally, the subtle stripy effect of the yarn is highlighted and made a stunning design feature.

The edging of the rectangle is a traditional shetland looped edging which makes counting and picking up stitches much easier.

Increases for easing the lace around the corners of the rectangle are done before you start on the lace, meaning accurate placement of the points around the edge of the blanket scarf and more straightforward knitting.

The lace edge is cast on and bound off, no grafting needed. The seam is in the centre of a long border, the best place to hide this seam when wearing.

The lace is worked over a small number of stitches, meaning no long bind off row to finish the lace. This construction method gives no tight edges making it easier to block.
