Reminiscent of homely ‘granny’ squares, this simple blanket is perfect for babies and toddlers to snuggle up with. This beautifully soft cashmere blend of yarn is gentle on delicate skin, and the simple stitch formation is great for beginners, or provides a quick & easy project for the more experienced.

A note about using this pattern:
UK wording in crochet differs from the terms used in America regarding stitch names. Directions are written in UK wording, with American wording in brackets, e.g. dc(sc). A good tip is to highlight the wording that applies to you before you start.

To make the blanket you will need to know how to be able to: make a foundation chain; form slip stitches; form double(single) crochet and treble(double crochet) stitches; work into chain spaces; join in new yarns. If you don’t know how to do these there are a multitude of free instruction videos available on sites such as www.youtube.com .

Materials:
Double Knitting (dk/light worsted) yarn in 3 colours - I used Rowan Classic Baby DK for my blanket, but any suitable double knitting (dk/light worsted) yarn will be suitable. This yarn has approximately 115 metres (126 yards) to a ball:

  • Yarn A: 6 x 50g balls
  • Yarn B: 1 x 50g
  • balls Yarn C: 1 x 50g ball
  • 4.5mm crochet hook
