Sweet Everlasting Bonnet
Sweet Everlasting may be my favorite wildflower. Dainty blooms that spring from tough and sandy soils. The soft scent of maple syrup that never ends.
Years ago I found a patch of it growing under evergreens between pads of pincushion moss. It was dry and had seeded for the winter but something about it made me pick a dried bouquet.
In the car on the way home I noticed a soft brown sugar or maple syrup scent. I crushed a dried bloom in my fingers and the scent filled the car. That little bouquet still rests on my mantle bringing sweetness and smiles.
The design features three special techniques that make for an engaging knit. Roosimine blooms, French knots, and a row of scalloped crochet all framing the brim of the bonnet.
