The Sweet Pea Child Skirt is a feminine yet functional design that can be worn during play time or during church, and anywhere in between! This skirt is based off the adult sized garment I designed last year and comes in infant and child sizes (from 3 months old up through 16 Juniors). It is made with soft worsted weight cotton yarn so that the fabric has a beautiful drape and is breathable during warm weather. This pattern has a classic A-line shape and includes instructions for adding an elastic waistband to ensure the perfect fit. This fabric has a texture that mimics the shape of the sweet pea flower petals with an additional unique and simple mesh detail along the edge to add interest and texture. It is an advanced beginner pattern with repeated stitch patterns throughout, making it fairly quick and easy to work up.
There is a photo tutorial for attaching an elastic waistband to ensure a better fit. The sizing is based on waist measurements and allows for 1/2 inch to 1 inch of negative ease.
