The red earth of PEI is distinct and the “sweet” potatoes that are produced in this soil account for nearly a third of all Canadian potato production. This pattern honours that tradition with the leaves of the plants encircling the cuff and the rows of red earth travelling along the foot and the calf.

This pattern is worked from the top down, beginning with a cuff that is worked separately from the body of the sock. Once the cuff is completed (worked flat) stitches are picked up to continue the sock.

The sample sock was knit using 80/20 sock weight yarn.
