Sweet Scent of Summer Socks
The scent of summer settles as September begins. Sweet peas, Lavender and Jasmine the softness of warmed, sunlit grass in the air soothe our senses. The flowers close and the clouds fold in, as summer says goodbye. But the sweet smell of sunlight lingers in the blue patches in the sky. The grass becomes damp with dew, and the leaves begin to fade, but the scent of summer still warms us, and we raise a hand to wave goodbye text
Inspired by Sweet peas and the beautiful scents of all the flowers in our Summer gardens. These socks are worked top down, the pattern includes instructions for a heel-flap and gusset, a modified wedge toe and how to work these in a contrast yarn (optional).
The stitch pattern is worked on the front of the sock and is written and charted. Increases and decreases are worked to form gentle curves either side off a small cable, this is evocative of the petals on sweet peas and the curly tendrils they produce as they climb.
