In planning this collection and looking over the Manos del Uruguay palette, one can’t help but think of the kaleidoscope of sugar spun colors of the candy counter, the fun of choosing, and the dizzying joy of rainbow gobstoppers, pastel taffy chews, pink bubblegum and bright red shoestring licorice to cherish for what, an hour before they’re devoured?

Nostalgic yet modern, this collection is designed with entertainment and wearability in mind: each piece brings a festive need-to-have layer for those in between spring and summer temperatures in shapes of the moment.

22½ sts and 33 rows = 4”/10 cm in St st using larger needle.

NOTES
This project begins by working the back sections of the right and left hood first, with each piece worked sideways beginning at center back, then these pieces are set aside. The right and left upper bodies are each worked from side-to-side, starting at the sleeve cuff and working in towards the center of the body. At the side of the neck, the upper body divides for working the back and front separately. Each back is worked even to the middle of the body where the two backs are joined using a three-needle bind-off. The front stitches combine with the held hood stitches, and are worked at the same time to the front centerline. Stitches for the lower back and fronts are picked up from the upper body and worked separately down to the lower edge.

The halves of the back hood are joined with a band of seed stitch that extends up the back and across the top of the head to center front. The right and left fronts are joined with bands of seed stitch at center front that extend around the face opening to trim the front edge of the hood.
