A very sweet hanging heart to fill with stuffing or lovely lavender.

Inspired by the name of my father’s artisan confectionery business in 1950’s Ireland and our favourite sweets/candy in the 1960’s ‘Sweetheart’ is a small project which is quick to knit and brings the immense satisfaction of having completed a project sooner rather than later.

Sweetheart makes a great project for the novice knitter. There’s an opportunity to practice many techniques including cast on, increase on knit, increase on purl, follow a written pattern, leave sts aside to rejoin later, decrease, cast off/bind off, add new yarn, sew up a completed project.

It makes a great home decoration. And of course in this time of Covid-19 when so many people are unable to be with their loved ones either in hospital or separated by miles, Sweetheart would carry a reminder of your love and affection. It is an ideal project for knitting mindfully with loving intention putting your love, thoughts and prayers for the receiver into every stitch.

Sweetheart can be knitted in a variety of sizes just by altering the yarn and needle size. For best results, choose the yarn you would like to use and knit up on a needle 2-3 sizes smaller than recommended for that yarn.
