Update 2/28/12 - I am reworking this pattern and trying another increase on the points of the hearts. I find I prefer to do a lifted increase, knit 1, and another lifted increase rather than the increase in the pattern, it gives a cleaner look and less of a hole at the point of the heart.

I designed this pattern for my Scottish husband as a Valentine’s Day gift. This pattern works just fine with any worsted weight yarn. I like wool-ease because my husband abuses his kilt hose and likes to throw them in the washing machine. This pattern includes a chart for the heart cables.
