Swerve is an asymmetric, crescent shaped shawl constructed from the top down, with kidsilk mohair stripe short-rows, and garter stitch. No purling! No picking up wrapped stitches. Weave in ends as you knit! It’s easy, gauzy and lightweight, and can be wrapped many different ways.

I used self-striping, self-patterning mohair yarn for Color B.
If mohair isn’t your thing, experiment with stripes, self-striping yarn, hand-painted, or solid colors.
Use up some of those leftovers and scraps!
Double up lace yarn, or use fingering weight or lace weight yarn singled.
Use as many or as few colors as you like for “Color B”.
Weave in ends as you go
And use whatever size needle gives you the fabric you desire.
Size 9 needles with mohair and single ply fingering weight yarn, makes a gauzy, lightweight fabric.
Sizing needles down or using heavier weight yarn will give your shawl a denser look and feel.
Size and look will change depending on your choices, but it’s yours to play with and enjoy!
Yarn amounts will vary, so have enough on hand to get your Swerve on!

MATERIALS:
* 1 skein 400yds/100g Fingering Weight yarn
Color A: Northbound Knitting Merino/Silk Fingering Singles in
Nocturne (328yd/82g used)
* 1 ball 460yds/50g Rowan Kidsilk Haze Stripe
Color B: Rowan Kidsilk Haze Stripe in
361 Chiaroscuro (202yd/22g used)
* Size US 9 (5.5mm) circular needle
(or size to obtain gauge)
* Tapestry needle

GAUGE:
4 sts = 1” in stockinette on US 9 (5.5mm) needles with Color A.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
84”wide x 21” deep (relaxed after blocking)

WS = Wrong side
KF&B = Knit into front and back of stitch.
M1R = With left needle, lift bar between sts from back to front, knit into front of stitch.
M1L = With left needle, lift bar between sts from front to back, knit into back of stitch.
W&T= Wrap and turn: bring working yarn to front of work, slip one stitch purlwise from left needle to right needle, bring yarn to back of work, slip stitch back to left hand needle, bring yarn to front of work, turn work. Yarn will be in place to work the next row.
