Swimmy
This is how the conversation went:
Daughter: Mum, make me a jumper for winter.
Me: Okay, what do you want on it?
Daughter: Fish.
Me: Fish?
Daughter: Fish.
Me: Would you like there to be waves too?
Daughter: Ooh yes.
Me: And how about little air bubbles for the fish?
Daughter: Ooh yes; that would be so cute.
And now here is ‘Swimmy’, the sweater made at my daughter’s behest.
The body is around 16 inches long, and at 18 - 19 inches the sleeves are designed to be a bit over-long.
It comes in teen and adult sizes, and is made in the round as far as the armholes, and then continues in rows.
The sleeve heads need to be sewn into the armholes, and that is the only seaming that’s needed.
To make this design you will need to know how to:
knit, purl, increase, decrease, wrap and turn, work three-needle bind off, pick up sts for the neckband and work stranded colourwork for the sleeves.
The pattern is written out, and there are charts for the colour work.
Yarn requirements:
MC: 820 (842, 880, 920, 957){995, 1055, 1105, 1153} yds/750 (770, 805, 840, 875){910, 965, 1010, 1054} mts Jamieson’s Shetland Heather Aran Knitting Yarn 100% wool color 1350 North Sea;
