This is a great coat for cool weather! Its flared silhouette skims nicely over the hips, so it flatters many different body types. It’s worked from the bottom up in pieces, with side shaping and a shaped back gusset, then sewn together. The sweater was worked at a slightly tighter gauge than the yarn called for, which gives it more body – a good thing in a coat.

The Chevron Rib pattern is presented in charted format.

Needles and Notions: One size 6 (4 mm) circular needle, 29” long, one pair size 6 (4 mm) knitting needles, OR SIZE NEEDED TO OBTAIN GAUGE; one pair size 5 (3.5 mm) knitting needles, for Collar; st marker; cable needle (cn); three 1” buttons

Gauges: In St st, 20 sts and 27 rows = 4”/10 cm; in Chevron Pattern, 20 sts and 27 rows = 4”/10 cm. NOTE: This garment is knit at a gauge slightly tighter than the gauge called for by the yarn used. This is to give the garment a firmer hand.
