Supplies:

• Worsted Weight Yarn (about 100- 150 yards depending on the variations you choose)
• Size L (8 mm) or size to meet gauge 9 ST and 5 Rows = 3” in DC
• Size K Hook (6.5 mm) or one size smaller than the size used for the main portion of the hat
• Yarn needle

Stitches used:

• CH- Chain
• SL- Slip Stitch
• HDC- Half Double Crochet
• DC- Double Crochet
• BPSC- Back Post Single Crochet
• FPHDC- Front Post Half Double Crochet
• BPHDC- Back Post Half Double Crochet
• FPDC- Front Post Double Crochet

Notes:

• I’ve included a photo tutorial for some parts of the pattern at the end. If you don’t need it, just print out pages 1-3. Save ink, paper, and the planet!
• I would call this an advanced beginner/ intermediate project. if you are comfortable with the stitches listed above, I think you can follow this pattern even as a beginner. The photo section should clear up any confusion about where to put the stitches.
• I have made this with every variety of worsted weight yarn (size 4) This pattern is pretty flexible and I tell you how to make some modifications for sizing if your yarn isn’t QUITE at gauge since all worsted weight yarns are nor created equal.
• This pattern has modifications for adult S/M, adult M/L, and also a child size.
• This pattern has modifications for 2 different styles of hat band as pictured. A plain ribbed band and a fold up ribbed band.
• This pattern is written in US terms.
