Swirly O Socks
Hand-dyed sock yarns abound these days. Here’s an example of how the depth of the colors will impact the finished result. In this sock, the simple eyelet patterning creates swirling Os around the leg and the instep. Knit in a color that contrasts with your skin tone, the holes will form windows into the foot, with your skin becoming an integral part of the overall effect. Knit in a color that blends more smoothly with your skin, the larger overall swirl pattern of the stitches will become the focal point.
Note: This pattern uses a provisional cast-on. After you knit the foundation rows you will want to pick up the first row of stitches on a second set of needles so that you can knit the foundation row and the working row stitches together.
