Switchback Neckwarmer is another design in the short-row Switchback series—a tapered, funnel-style cowl with the same characteristic brioche ribs and short-row shaping.

The sample is made from very soft merino wool yarns—Malabrigo Mechita in Hojas (green, MC) and Malabrigo Sock in Yellow Ochre (yellow, CC). You can knit it in MC and CC yarns of your choice, or all in one skein of any similar fingering-weight yarn—either way, it should make an excellent showcase for those special luxury hand- and kettle-dyed yarns.

Gauge:
This neckwarmer is knit at a gauge of 27 sts and 50 rows in 4”. Please be sure to check your gauge; this cowl is fairly fitted, so while a looser gauge will be more forgiving, a smaller gauge won’t work at all.

Skill level: intermediate!

Materials:
Fingering-weight yarn such as Malabrigo Sock or Malabrigo Mechita, approx. 160 yds MC (Hojas, Mechita), 90 yds CC (Yellow Ochre, Sock).
16” circular needle in US3/3.25mm, or size needed for gauge
One set of DPNs in size needed for gauge
2 removable stitch markers
Tapestry needle
