Swoopsie is a reversible, asymmetrical lace shawl. It is worked from side to side with twisted stitch lace and a short row bind off. Even the beaded version is reversible. The pattern is one of my Entwined Lace series.

Purchase of any pattern in the series includes a free copy of The Entwined Lace Mitts, a set of twisted stitch lace wrist warmers. This pattern includes several pages of background on twisted stitch lace, beading, cast ons and bind offs appropriate for the lace, chart symbols, abbreviations, and terms used in the Entwined Lace patterns.

The Swoopsie Mitts are a pair of twisted stitch lace wrist warmers that coordinate with Swoopsie, and are available for $1 with the purchase of Swoopsie.

The shawl can be worked with any gauge yarn from bulky to lace. Beads are optional.

The pattern is written for any yarn, just choose a set of needles that give a pleasing fabric. Charts and complete written directions with some abbreviations are included for both beaded and non-beaded versions.

Skills and Techniques
The skill level is experienced because of the short rows and twisted stitch lace. A knowledge of basic knitting is assumed. All advanced stitches are explained in detail in the pattern.

Note: if beading the shawl, make sure your chosen yarn is fine enough to go through the bead hole. The yarn listed for the model without beads is much too bulky to be used.

US9/1.40mm crochet hook (fit about 95% of the beads, easier to use)
US10/1.30mm crochet hook (fit remaining beads)

Errata for Swoopsie 0.7
All known 0.5 issues are addressed in this release, which is now available in the Ravelry database.

Bead placement:
bead-tkdR-b is bead LN2
bead-tpdR-b is bead LN1 (used on A8 and B8 only)
Any text saying that the bead on all decreases is to go on second stitch is to be corrected as noted above.

Scarf instead of Shawl:
Once scarf is desired width and with a completed Chart B, on the next Chart B change rows 1, 3, and 5, to read from the marker:
sl m, p1, yo, tkdL-tbl, k1, (yo, tkdL-tbl) to last st, k1

Row 7 already ends that way.

Chart B, beads or no beads
Row 2, Column 12 is worked as an open knit, whether it is beaded or not.

Errata for Swoopsie 0.5
There is a mistake on row A4 of the beaded setup directions only. It’s correct on both charts and on the setup without beads directions.

A4 with beads should begin:
A4: krk, k to m, k2 (instead of k1)

On row B1 for beaded and non-beaded, the marker is at 16 sts but you need 17 sts to work the sts on that side of the marker. If you steal a stitch from the other side of the marker, everything will come out right. The row directions are correct except for the marker placement.
